Announcement & Call for Papers Second Annual WORKSHOP IN MACROECONOMIC RESEARCH AT LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGES |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
When: August 8-9, 2006 You are invited to share your research and to learn about the work being done by other macroeconomists at liberal arts colleges. The primary goals of this workshop are: 1) to create an open forum that allows macroeconomists at
liberal arts colleges to expose their work to a group of their
peers and gain valuable feedback; and, Last year’s workshop was a great success and we expect this year’s to be even better! We invite faculty to submit paper proposals in the fields of macroeconomics, monetary economics, fiscal policy, open-economy macro, growth, and international finance. Submissions from junior faculty are particularly encouraged, as is work in its preliminary stages. An evening roundtable session will explore "Choosing the Right Journal." If you are interested in submitting a paper to present, please send the following information to LA_Macro@vassar.edu (in MS Word or PDF format): the title of your paper, an abstract (approximately one page), and the name, affiliation, and contact information of the author(s). Submission deadline is May 1st. Authors will be notified of acceptance by May 15th. Final drafts are due July 25th and will be posted on the workshop website in advance of the workshop. Also needed are persons willing to serve as session chairs or paper discussants. Please notify the workshop organizers by June 30th if you would be willing to fill one of these roles. Please include desired fields. Paper discussants will be selected from institutions other than the author’s to facilitate intercollegiate contacts. We also welcome those who would like to attend the workshop but not present a paper. Please notify us by August 1 if you plan to attend the conference. Depending on the number of papers, we plan to have two half-days of presentations where each speaker gets approximately 30 minutes to present their research, with time at the end of each session for additional discussion. A tentative workshop schedule is below. Travel Plans:
